Long-Term Monitoring

Terraine performs long-term monitoring (LTM) services throughout the southeast at facilities in South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky and Texas.

Terraine uses technology to improve quality and reduce costs. Field data are collected electronically using a relational database on PocketPC-based handheld PDAs, which are synchronized daily with a back end environmental database server. Terraine prepares quarterly, semiannual and annual monitoring reports; interprets analytical results; prepares graphical illustrations of contaminant plumes; presents data visually via animated plume maps and provides recommendations to the client.

One of our larger clients is the US Navy, and some of the services we are providing include:

Former Naval Training Center (NTC) Orlando – Orlando, FL.  Terraine is performing LTM services to support monitored natural attenuation as the remediation method for multiple sites, including landfills, pesticide storage buildings and vehicle fueling areas at the facility.  Work consists of sampling more than 150 monitoring wells on a quarterly basis at eight different sites.  Contaminants include: petroleum, solvents, pesticides/herbicides and arsenic.  Sampling Data obtained in the field are then provided securely to the Navy on a very rapid turnaround basis. Terraine is also responsible for presenting data at Orlando Partnering Team (OPT) meetings attended by Navy personnel, State regulators and the EPA, and for maintaining a publicly-available Navy website with non-sensitive project and Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting information.

Naval Weapons Station (NWS) Charleston - Charleston, SC.  LTM work is being performed at Solid Waste Management Units (SWMUs) 23, a closed landfill, and at SWMU 36, a former hazardous waste accumulation area.

Marine Corps Recruiting Depot (MCRD) - Parris Island, SC.  LTM work is being performed to support natural attenuation at the former Aviation Gas Pipeline site.

Former Naval Air Station (NAS) Cecil Field and Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville - Jacksonville, FL.  Terraine is providing LTM at five sites (AVGAS pipeline spill, AST bulk fuel storage area, base vehicle fueling area, fire fighter training area, fire station fuel tank area) located at the former NAS Cecil Field and NAS Jacksonville.

Naval Air Station (NAS) Corpus Christi - Corpus Christi, TX.  Terraine is performing LTM at NAS Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD).  LTM work consists of sampling 42 monitoring wells annually.

Naval Ordnance Station – Louisville, KY.  Terraine is performing LTM on 16 groundwater monitoring wells at Naval Ordnance Station (NOS) Louisville.
